COLOR SOLOUTIONS

Artist Statement

Mathematics is part of my background training and geometry has always intrigued me. I love puzzles and problem solving.

Color fascinates me. Most of the paint I use I have made from mixing ground pigments and linseed oil in small bowls. I obtain highly saturated and, sometimes, unusual hues. Often I arrive at a color which I later find I can't exactly replicate. This seems to be as close as I can get to my secret desire to create a color never seen before!

I start a fresh canvas with bowls of leftover paint. With abandon I create LOTS of problems! I explore, reject, get lost. This is a great adventure! Eventually I find out where the painting must go. Music usually joins me during the search.

My hope is that some of the pleasure I experience creating these paintings translates into enjoyment and engagement for the viewer!
