ARTIST STATEMENT

The Essence of Paint: Color, Texture, Relationships, History

Mixing my paints from pigments I obtain highly saturated colors & sometime
unusual hues; varying the amount of linseed oil leads to a range of "creaminess" or
stiffness; by starting each new painting with paint left over from a prior piece I
achieve a link (sometimes subtle) between paintings.  I work in several layers,
covering over & wiping away until I discover where the painting wants to go.  Part
of this activity remains as history.

Mathematics is part of my background training and geometry has always intrigued
me.

What I hope to present to you, the viewer is a painting that engages your eye,
stirs your emotions and perhaps tickles your sense of fantasy and whimsicality.
Just remember: the color made me do it!

In my world paint is an entity. It has a life!
